The Unfinished Canvas
A guided grief art journaling experience for those learning how to carry their love forward.
Monday sessions begin June 22nd
Welcome to GriefArt: The Unfinished Canvas.
Long before there were words for grief, there were walls — cave walls, marked by hands in the dark, by people who wanted the world to know: I was here. This is my story.
Lewis and Clark wrote in the field — cold, uncertain, sometimes lost — because the journey itself was worth recording. Not the arrival. The exploration.
C.S. Lewis kept a grief journal after losing his wife. Not because he had answers. But because he needed somewhere to put it — all of it — until the pages themselves became living proof that something was shifting.
“Sorrow turns out to be not a state but a process.”
— C.S. Lewis, A Grief Observed
That is what the Unfinished Canvas is. A living record — your record — of a season in your life that is still being written.
Within this workshop, you will find color when words fail. Texture when feelings become heavy. A mark, a pressed flower, a torn photograph, or a line of handwriting that will signify this exact moment — a day of exploration worth documenting in your life. You will notice your grief change form — not disappear, but transform — the way seasons change, the way water carves canyons — not in a single moment, but in ten thousand quiet ones.
At the end, this canvas — whether that is three months or three years — will hold something extraordinary. A documented expedition that belongs entirely to you. Evidence of who you loved, how you felt, and how your life has changed because of it.
You do not need to know how to paint or draw. You only need to show up the way explorers show up to an unmapped trail — with the readiness and the willingness to document what is true.
