About Us

Leading a movement of courage and compassion.

Our Mission Statement

Healing Grief Matters

At Healing Grief Matters, we exist to transform how the world understands, supports, and heals from profound loss — not in the immediate aftermath, when support is abundant, but in the long middle, when it has faded, and the weight of grief becomes most real.

We believe:

^

Grief is not the end of the story.

It is the beginning of transformation — and transformation, when met with intention and community, becomes the most powerful force for healing a human being can experience.
^

Every heart, no matter how broken, carries the courage to heal.

And in that healing, the power to change not only their own life — but the lives of everyone who comes after them.
^

Silence, shame, and isolation are not the natural conditions of grief.

They are the result of a world that does not yet know how to hold it. We are changing that —through connection— one journal, one community, one witnessed story at a time.
^

Healing is not moving on.

It is moving forward — carrying the love, the memory, and the irreplaceable presence of those we have lost into a life that still has meaning, still has purpose, and still has room for joy.
^

Self-care is survival.

Compassion is understanding. Connection is medicine. And grief, when carried with intention and witnessed with love, becomes the most profound teacher a human being will ever have.
^

They do not live on in what was lost.

They live on in what we carry forward.

About Stella Rose

Stella Rose is a Registered Nurse (RN, BSN), grief educator, author, and founder of Healing Grief Matters. Her nursing career spans fifteen years across hospice, medical-surgical, and behavioral health care.

After the loss of her son, Miles, she came to understand that grief is as individual as the love from which it comes—and, in all its forms, needs somewhere to be expressed and someone willing to witness it.

Healing Grief Matters grew from that understanding.

Through her work, Stella has come to know that grief cannot be scheduled, only accompanied. Her approach draws on clinical knowledge, lived experience, storytelling, somatic awareness, reflection, art, and nature. It gives people room to understand what loss has changed, find their place within a life that may feel unfamiliar, and stay connected to the person they love.

Through Healing Grief Matters, Stella has built a growing body of work, including books, journals, workshops, cinematic storytelling, and guided grief experiences. Her published work includes 12 Grief Solutions: How to Grow from Unresolved Grief; the Healing Grief Matters Journal, a quarterly publication of original stories, reflective essays, practical tools, and creative practices for people living with loss; and a weekly newsletter offering timely perspectives on grief, identity, connection, and life as it continues.

Her programs include Grief · Art · Journal—The Unfinished Canvas, a private creative experience that gives grief and memory a visible place to exist, and The Grief Immersion Experience, which combines story, sound, reflection, somatic awareness, and nature’s restorative presence. Both offer private, unhurried ways to explore what is happening within and find language for what has been difficult to explain.

Stella is also the founder of The Woven Heart Project, a worldwide mission built on remembrance, connection, and dignity. Each handcrafted wool heart is individually registered and woven with a golden thread representing continued connection. The project offers a tangible symbol of remembrance while helping families facing the financial burden of burial and memorialization.

Everything Stella creates is rooted in one enduring truth: finding a way forward does not mean leaving love behind.

Thank you,
Stella Rose
